LETZTES Mal 212er Klasse: Flex Lewis geht in „Bodybuilding Rente“!?

Der Mitgründer der Supplement Marke Sinister Labs, Flex Lewis, hat in der Bodybuilding Szene ohne Frage den Maßstab für die 212er Klasse gesetzt. Immerhin hat Lewis seit 2012 jedes Mal den Sieg beim Mr. Olympia für sich entscheiden können. Egal welche Konkurrenz bei dem Bodybuilding Highlight mit dabei war, Flex war in Augen der Juroren immer klar der Beste. Dementsprechend hält Flex Lewis aktuell auch den Rekord in dieser Kategorie. Überraschenderweise möchte der Wettkampf Athlet in diesem Jahr aber das letzte Mal für die 212er Klasse auf der Bühne stehen! Ob das für ihn die „Bodybuilding Rente“ bedeutet oder ob andere Motive hinter dieser Bekanntmachung stecken, verraten wir euch im Folgenden!

Flex Lewis hört auf: nur mit der 212er Klasse?

Für die meisten war es eine absolute Überraschung als Flex Lewis auf Instagram verkündete, dass er beim diesjährigen Mr. O das letzte mal in der 212er Klasse teilnehmen möchte. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit, das der Gründer von Sinister Labs im September den siebten Sieg dieser Kategorie für sich entscheidet, ist definitiv groß. Noch größer sind nach der Bekanntgabe von Lewis die Gerüchte um ein Klassenwechsel. Schließlich haben einige Experten dem Wettkampf Athleten bereits geraten, endlich in der offenen Klasse zu starten. Doch bislang war Flex ganz einfach der Maßstab der 212er!

Die Verkündung von Lewis klingt jedenfalls nicht direkt, als würde ein Klassenwechsel bevorstehen. Vielmehr betont Flex, dass er sich wieder mehr um das Business und seine Familie kümmern möchte. Auf die Frage, ob er in der offenen Klasse starten möchte, entgegnete Lewis allerdings nur, dass er dann erst 2020 wieder auf einer Bühne stehen könnte. Ein klares „Nein“ ist das in keinem Fall. Immerhin hätte der Sportler dann rund zwei Jahre, in denen er sich auf sein Privatleben und seine Karriere kümmern könnte.

Ob wir Flex Lewis also 2020 wieder beim Mr. O sehen werden, wird sich mit Sicherheit noch zeigen. Erst einmal drücken wir ihm die Daumen für den 7. Sieg im September!

I been called Flex since 6yrs old been a fan of this sport since I was 12, joined my first gym at 15, stepped on stage at 19 (for the very first time) traveled the world winning titles all over, won my pro card at 23 with a undefeated amateur record. Fast forward and Now at 34 it’s finally time to say this 212lb chapter is over. I will be finishing with my last 212lb show at this years 2018 @mrolympiallc – I won’t lie and say this was easy, I have battled the fact that this will be my last show many times, I went through some very tough times, and being transparent depression, I kept this all to myself, never let a sole in, I suffered massive highs and very low lows, still trying to comprehend last years loss of Dallas and then make this decision the beginning of this year- after months of battling this whilst, still acting walking talking all around the world as a Champion, I can now say I am VERY at peace with my decision. – Without my family, my team, coach and certain people, I wouldn’t be were I am today! – At one point I was very lost on direction, but I know in my heart this is the best for me, my family and the evolution of what and where I go next. – I love this sport and I love being the humble, driven, blue color, peoples Champion, I know I will give that fan at the end the same energy as the one at the front, why as I love it! I fucking love all you guys, that’s not cliche it’s the truth, I’ve been given the opportunity by the IFBB pro league to take this sport all over the world and I have, from mainstream tv to things in countries unseen.
